Taree Concrete Slabs
Not all concrete slabs are created equal. A poorly poured or uneven slab can cause problems long after the job’s done—cracking, sinking or just not lining up with what you built on top. At MidCoast Concreting, we take the time to get it right. Based in Taree, we’ve laid concrete slabs for everything from garden sheds and carports to patios and workshops. We measure properly, plan the pour around your space and use proven techniques to keep things strong and level. If your slab’s off, everything that follows will be too—and we don’t let that happen.
We take pride in leaving behind solid work that lasts. If you're after concrete slabs done right in Taree, give us a call on 0450 444 799 and let’s talk about your site.
Built for Strength & Reliability
There’s a lot more to concrete slabs than just pouring a mix and hoping for the best. We look at the layout, traffic, drainage and ground conditions before anything else. That way we can choose the right thickness, reinforcement and finish for what the slab’s supporting—whether it’s a lightweight shed or a slab for something more structural. Every site has its quirks and we’re used to working around them. We know how to make sure the slab sits right, drains properly and holds up to whatever’s going on top.
This is the kind of work you only notice if it’s done wrong—so we make sure it’s done right from the start.
How thick should concrete slabs be for sheds or garages?
The thickness depends on what the slab is supporting. For a small garden shed, 100mm is usually enough. For garages or workshops, 125mm or more is ideal, especially with reinforcement. Thicker slabs provide better strength, reduce cracking and help the structure hold up over time under regular use or heavy loads.
Do concrete slabs need reinforcing mesh?
In most cases, yes. Reinforcing mesh strengthens concrete slabs by helping control cracking caused by movement, shifting soil or heavy loads. It’s particularly important for driveways, sheds and structural areas. Mesh is placed mid-slab during the pour to distribute stress and improve the slab’s overall durability and lifespan.
Can you lay concrete slabs on uneven ground?
You can, but the ground must be properly prepared. We usually excavate and compact the soil to create a level and stable base. Sometimes extra gravel or a crushed rock base is added. Without this step, concrete slabs are more likely to crack, sink or wear unevenly over time.
